The role of knowledge management and its impact on administrative decision-making in the Palestinian Ministry of Labor: An employee perspective.

Abstract

The goal of this research is to identify the function of knowledge management with dimensions (knowledge generation, storage of knowledge, sharing of knowledge, and application of knowledge) and its relation to administrative decision-making in the Palestinian Ministry of Labor from the perspective of its employees. The study applied a descriptive strategy, reliant on a questionnaire as the primary instrument of research. The study population was all employees in the Palestinian Ministry of Labor and its directorates in the West Bank, which total 610 people. The sample was 236 employees (male and female). The study found that the overall perception of the reality of knowledge management among the sample was high in the areas of storage and application of knowledge, and moderate in the areas of generation and sharing of knowledge. In the area of the reality of administrative decision-making in the Ministry of Labor, it was rated as moderate. Field study results also indicated that some of the primary difficulties in carrying out knowledge management within the Palestinian Ministry of Labor were negative organizational conflict, organizational resistance to change, centralization, and low levels of employee involvement in decision-making.
