It is widely held that development Intellectual property rights (IPR) are fundamental for the protection of invention, creativity, and learning, even though, the practical application of IPR within the sustainable development context is complicated and demanding. The aim of sustainable development is the fostering of a nation’s economic growth while safeguarding the natural environment and guaranteeing social justice. The practical application of IPR can impede the accomplishment of these aims. This paper will consider the obstacles inherent in applying IPR to the sustainable development context. This article will emphasize the substantial role that safeguarding intellectual property rights can play in progressing social, technological, economic and cultural growth. This paper aims to provide a concise overview of intellectual property in the context of sustainability. This paper explores the dynamic convergence of intellectual property (IP) and sustainable development, as well as the present challenges encountered. Given the broad range of sustainable development, which encompasses economic, social, and environmental issues. The issues of sustainable development and intellectual property rights, despite the progress that has been made, the improvement of public comprehension and knowledge of IPR, the consolidation of implementation mechanisms, and the enhancement of the efficiency of IP legislation and regulations. In addition, it is imperative to strike a balance between the protection of intellectual property and the improvement of the accessibility of essential products and services, particularly those related to environmental sustainability and intellectual property rights.
